Strength is the Emperor over all Things
When I first became a personal trainer in 2010, powerlifting was the most popular trend in fitness. If you were not educated on how to get STRONG, you were a hack!
I spent years learning the science of application of maximal strength training. Despite having poor genetics for it, I had immense talent for building strength in others. I had to study exactly what worked and what did not, and this led to an encyclopedic understanding of the Big 3 lifts and how to train for them.
When I began writing programs in 2016, every program included the squat, bench press, and deadlift. This was the standard at the time, and people would question you if your programs did not include them.
But times Changed...
As the science of hypertrophy training advanced, and as strength training for performance was studied, exercise science slowly realized...there are no mandatory lifts
There was a movement away from prescribing the barbell for everything, and taking a more nuanced approach.
This was good overall...but at the same time, it eventually created misguided backlash. Barbell training IS an effective foundation for strength training. Learning how to use the barbell teaches technique and strategy that applies to all forms of lifting.
And if you do get stronger on barbell lifts, 100% you build MUSCLE.
With that said, I put all my barbell based programs into one package
The Maximum Strength Package
Apollo Program-The first very first 12 week program I ever wrote and released online, featuring a rest pause style progression and using variations of the big 3 for your primary lifts
Kratos Program-A true Big 3 program, based on increasing your 1RM over 12 weeks using percentage based lifting along with supplemental movements
AJAC Guide to Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift-a Massive guide that covers the technique and application of the Big 3 and answers dozens of common questions
AJAC Guide to Rest Pause Training-A thorough breakdown of RP training, how it started, how it works, and how to apply it for strength and muscle gains
King of Deadlifts-possibly the best guide to deadlifts ever written, covering every question from technique, variations, muscle vs strength, modifications, training around low back pain, and much more
